The research activity will address the fabrication of anodic titanium oxide, TiO2, electrodes with the objective to achieve an optimized ensemble of properties, particularly with regard to electrochemical capacitance and conductivity of the layer. An extensive experimental work will be performed covering the range of processes and operating parameters that have a stronger influence on the architecture and morphology of oxide layers. Following this preparatory work, the main focus will be on studying the electrochemical behavior of the electrodes and reveal the correlation between the latter and the oxide microstructure. As a further step, thermal, electrochemical and/or surface modification processes will be explored in order to increase the capacitance and the conductivity of the oxide. Finally, the anti-fouling property of metals nanoparticles decorated TiO2 electrodes will be investigated.
