Control algorithms of a robotized system for drilling of aeronautical structural members

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The drilling of structural members within the manufacturing of aircraft is a very complex task due to the large variety of part geometries and subject to very strict requirements in terms of accuracy. These two factors prevented up to nowadays the usage of automated solutions for task execution. The research is aimed at developing a robotized solution and the exploitation of force/torque sensors is envisaged during the drilling process. The usage of such information in the control algorithm of the robot will allow to minimize/control the loads tangential to the surface to drill so as to reduce at a minimal extent the sliding motion of the tooltip while keeping the drilling direction orthogonal to the surface. The adoption of force measurements will also allow the robot to insert the drilling tool in the current drilling jigs without the need of extremely accurate positioning.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
