Development of a distributed tactile sensor for applications of physical human-robot interaction.

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Into an unstructured environment in which humans and robots share their workspace, a sensitive feedback is crucial

so that the robots can adapt their behavior “intelligently”, especially when humans and robots work together to achieve a common goal. Today, the interest in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) is growing and there are many applications where the sense of touch for the whole body of robots becomes important: e.g., for the knowledge transfer from human to robots, for the realization of human-friendly interfaces for robot programming and control, for human guidance in the completion of the robot task, for the detection of the human presence to avoid unintended collisions (safe operation around humans). In the last two decades, different technologies are applied to realize artificial skins or tactile sensors capable to confer the sense of touch to robots, such as piezoresistive, capacitive, ultrasonic, magnetic, piezoelectric.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
