Key objectives of the research project are: 1. Chemical and energetic characterization of biomass, including agricultural feedstock, vegetable residues and algae cultures; 2. Setting up of advanced methodologies for the development of biomass traceability and certification systems (UNI-EN); 3. System analysis, design and optimization of thermochemical (pyrolysis and gasification) and biochemical (anaerobic digestion) conversion processes of biomass into biofuels; 4. Analysis of the energy conversion efficiency; 5. Development of innovative methodologies for biofuels production, including heterogeneous catalysis; 6. Extraction of platform molecules from process residues and transformation to biofuels, biomaterials and fine chemicals.More information on www.star-agroenergy.eu
