The research project is based on models and methods for public and private transportation network design under uncertain data. In particular the variables (traffic light control parameters, capacity of the service, etc.) and constraints (budget, origin-destination demand, technical constraints, etc.) involved in the design issues of transport networks are often affected by uncertainty or imprecision. The research fellow will develops methods and algorithms to solve the problem, taking into account the uncertainty of the data, of the variables and of the problem constraints using fuzzy optimization techniques.
The algorithms must be encoded in MATLAB environment and compared with the methods proposed in the commercial transportation software such as, for example, TransCAD or Aimsun.
