The proposed research in the context of the hydrological extremes will be conducted following two principal tasks:
-the first one will be dedicated to the analysis of semi-distributed hydrological models, based on the continuous simulation of flood events, able to reproduce the main hydrological processes and to exploit the expected progress in the field of remote sensing (i.e. by means of the use of parameters obtained through satellite measurement related to the biophysical characteristics of vegetation)
-in the second one probabilistic theoretical models will be further developed with the aim to analyze, at regional scale, the behavior of some key parameters of the derived distributions reducing the uncertainty of flood prediction in ungauged river basins.
