The main objective of the research programme is the development and testing of an early warning system for the assessment of the risk that temperature and dissolved oxygen conditions, which are life threatening for the survival of clam farmed in the Lagoon of Venice, could arise. In order to reach such objective, two mathematical models will be developed, for the short term predictions of respectively water temperature and dissolved oxygen concentration. Furthermore data assimilation algorithm will be implemented, in order to allow the continuous update of forcing functions and key model parameters.
