Role of the immunoproteasome in seizures: mechanistic insights and novel therapeutic perspectives

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The aim of the fellowship is tol characterize the role of the immunoproteasome (IP), a key component of tissue inflammation, in epilepsy using bioptic specimens of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) and two TLE animal models, i.e. mice treated with kainic acid and rats with pilocarpine. The researcher will study which cell types in brain express IP upon an epileptogenic injury, how IP expression is regulated and which is the role of IP in seizure generation. By combining immunohistochemical, biochemical, epigenetic and pharmacological approaches he/she will obtain preliminary evidences to understand if IP expression is part of the brain inflammation cascade activated in epilepsy.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
