The overall goal of the research project mainly focus on two main aspects of our "multisensory" nature: (1) multisensory integration (in neurotypical and neurological conditions); (2) crossmodal plasticity in sensory-deprived individuals (blind or deaf).
The first objective will be to run fMRI experiments on crossmodal plasticity in deaf and/or blind individuals. A second objective will be to participate in ongoing project investigating the multisensory nature of ‘unisensory’ regions (e.g FFA, MT+/V5). Apart from conceptualizing and implementing the experiment, the candidate is expected to perform state-of-the-art analysis of fMRI dataset, including machine learning analysis and functional/effective connectivity (eg. DCM). At tight collaboration with the rest of the team is mandatory. Depending of the results obtained, the fellow is also expected to publish the results obtained in peer-reviewed scientific journals

a)a Ph.D. in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or related discipline is requested;also admitted to the selection are candidates who declare to have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. and to obtain the PhD title prior to signing the contract; candidates must provide official University confirmation of having met such requirements
b) scientific curriculum suitable to conduct the research activity described in article 1, for example specific expertise (documented by the publication of at least one article for peer-reviewed scientific journal) in cognitive neuroscience
c)international experience in research and in fMRI data analysis in order to independently carry out the activity described in article 1, especially with Matlab toolbox like SPM
d)motivation, excellent communication skills, interest in working in a multi-disciplinary team and by developing new collaborations with Italian institutions for deaf and/or blind individuals
e)an advanced level of competence in English
