The program intends to develop a complex system to remove spatial debris from commercial orbits. Abilitating technologies will be developed. The debris will be identified by a vision and a thermal infrared system that will provide input to an image processing algorithm with the aim of reconstructing the shape of the target as well as its thermal/inertial/kinematic properties.
In the same time it will be developed a an attitude identification algorithm based on a positioning system on a star map and an inertial system. This will allow the evaluation of the best strategies to approach the debris. It will be developed the avionic system for close approach and it will chosen and developed the grasping system and its control algorithm. Innovative materials such as foams acting in space environment and inflatable structure will be considered. A dedicated lab, CADETLab, will be organized.
Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
