Development of the electronic circuits for the control and the measurement of a Lab-on-Chip (LoC) for the Early Diagnosis of Viral Infections

Description: the grant holder will be involved in the design and development of a number of electronic subsystems of the LoC, featuring the following main functionalities: 1) actuation of microvalves and of a microfluidic typology dubbed “digital microfluidics”, based on the elettrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) principle; 2) control of the microheaters of the chambers dedicated to the polymerase chain reaction (PCR); 3) acquisition from sensing photodiode arrays

for specific luminescent detection techniques - bio- and chemi-luminescence; 4) analog signal conditioning; 5) digital sequencing/timing unit which executes the protocols of the LoC and 6) digital signal processing and user interface.
