we will investigate, by gene expression microarray matched diagnosis–relapse samples from both B-ALL and T-ALL patients. Moreover we will apply reverse phase protein microarrays (RPMA) to assess the expression and the phosphorylation status of different proteins to profile signal transduction activity involved in cell cycle regulation.
On the basis of the obtained results we will study, in cell cultures from relapsed patients, a series of novel drugs and their association with conventional chemotherapeutics to evaluate their efficacy and potential synergistic effects. The results will potentially help the development of additional improved and rational treatment strategies.
