Mathematical modelling and numerical simulation for the mechanical characterization of anisotropic living tissues at a nanometric scale”

The mechanical characterization of biological materials poses a number of scientific challenges of great interest that will be addressed in the research financed by the present grant. In particular, the focus here will be on the role of fibres in living materials (miocardium, ligaments, cartilage, etc), the representation of their role in constitutive models and their remodelling, obtained on the basis of experiments (possibily dynamics) and represented in mathematical models at a nanometric size.
