Nonlinear and saturated control techniques in power converters for power-quality enhancement, energy management and generation from renewable sources

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Power electronic converters are extensively adopted for the solution of timely issues, such as power quality improvement in industrial plants, energy management in hybrid electrical systems, and control of electrical generators for renewables. Beside nonlinearity, this kind of systems is characterized by constraints on the control inputs. Control laws able to handle input saturation are crucial to extend their transient and steady-state operating ranges, improving their reliability and availability.
The main goal of the project is to design saturated control structures based on modern approaches, overcoming the classic solutions drawbacks, while providing formal results under any saturation scenario. The research activity will be carried out at the Lab. of Automation and Robotics (LAR) of the Dept. of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering “Guglielmo Marconi” (DEI) of the Univ. of Bologna and in collaboration with Prof. Tingshu Hu of Univ. of Massachusetts, Lowell.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
