Study of the reproductive cycle and recruitment of the smooth clam Callista chione as a tool to improve resource management along the Veneto coast
Please note that the job is no longer active!
The FSE grant is addressed to develop the following research activity:
Monthly samplings will be carried out on Callista chione grounds on board commercial fishing vessels provided by O.P. I Fasolari (Chioggia). Densities and size frequencies (both as number and total weight of individuals) will be evaluated, and size at first sexual maturity will be determined. On commercial size clams, reproductive cycle will be studied and condition index measured. Energy reserve cycle will be also investigated by evaluating protein, lipid and carbohydrate contents. To perform on board fishing vessels and ashore activities, 30% of the working time will be spent at O.P. I Fasolari.
Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
