Gravitational Wave Sources

The aim of this research is the study of compact astrophysical objects, such as neutron stars and black holes, as sources of gravitational waves.

In particular, we plan to study:

- The early evolution of proto-neutron stars.

- The r-mode instability of rotating neutron stars.

- The gravitational wave emission by compact binary systems.

- The effect of superfluidity on neutron star oscillations.

- Alternative theories of gravity signatures on gravitational wave signals.

- The stochastic background of gravitational waves produced by cosmological populations of gravitational wave sources.

The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in some of these research lines, depending on his/her skills and research interests.
