The aim of the project is the definition of the components of diatom metabolism of that are specific adaptations to turbulence. The possibility of a perception of turbulence as a signal has been suggested in recent studies that have not yet had a full explanation in terms of molecular mechanisms and physiological response to the received signal. Bioreactors for algal growth at industrial level make extensive use of systems that generate motion in order to maximize algal growth, a determination of the molecular mechanisms of adaptation of diatoms to turbulence is therefore of potential interest for the industrial implications. The project aims to develop controlled conditions that can faithfully reproduce changes in the stability of the water column. Coupling measurements of physiological parameters and transcriptomic analyses we propose to investigate the perception and responses to changes in turbulence conditions.

To participate in the competition, candidates must possess the following qualifications: Master Degree in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Functional Genomics or disciplines related to biology and genomics or in related disciplines. These requirements must be fulfilled on the date of expiry of the deadline for submission of applications for admission to the selection. The exclusion from the selection, for lack of necessary qualifications, shall be introduced by decree notified of motivated.
Competition based on qualifications and colloquio. La assessment of the candidates will be conducted by a special jury, which will examine the qualifications and the performance of an interview aimed at ascertaining the candidate's professional expertise in scientific, as well as his attitude to carry out specific research subject of the application.
To better plan and organise their stay in a foreign European country, researchers and their families can also benefit of the free and personalised assistance offered by the EURAXESS Services Centres, a network of more than 200 centres located in 40 different European countries.
