Italian cities during the war: the case of Florence (1940-1944)

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The aim of the project is to reconstruct the complex dynamics that affected the Tuscan capital and its citizens during the Second World War. A research on a major metropolitan area, careful to highlight the links with the regional framework, ican be the starting point for a job comparison with tudies conducted in recent years to other urban areas in the peninsula. It will also use a variety of methodological suggestions coming from the large historiographical and museum production on the theme of the city in the war that has invested in recent decades the European dimension, trying to single out similarities and specificities of the Italian context.
Faced with local history and memoirs, the historical acquisitions of Florence during the war are still fragmentary and partial, missing especially a work of synthesis, able to interact with the different levels of research, from the institutional apparatus to changes in everyday life.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
