Fellowship posted by Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (26/01/2013 02.50)

European Research Council funded fellowship Formation Control of UAVs in Hostile Environment

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The objective of the research consists in the design and control of aerial rotary-wing vehicles able to operate in hostile environments. Coordination between multiple vehicles for cooperative tasks is also expected to be a research objective.
Research will be focused on:

• Study of robust nonlinear and hybrid control laws to reject disturbances and to deal with singularities in the 3D flight typical for this kind of vehicles.
• Modelling of the system with an emphasis on aerodynamic aspects, disk actuator theories and dynamic of fluids. Implementation and validation of the nonlinear model on a 3D simulator is a further objective to be achieved.
• Evaluation of possible hardware platforms and study of optimal solutions in terms of performances (weight, energy consumption, speed of calculus).
• Coordination between more aerial robots for cooperative tasks. Study of communication, task division and trajectory planning to optimize mission’s task.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
