Deontic Logic: Historical and Current Perspectives

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Deontic logic, a branch of formal logic, lived a period of great development during the 20th Century. Since it concerns both the philosophical analysis of juridical concept, and their formalization via the application of tools and techniques borrowed from modal logic, deontic logic is currently very relevant within the ?eld of AI and Law. Nevertheless, to these days there is still a strong need for a systematic and sound analysis of the historical development of deontic logic over the last century. There is still the need of a work focused on both its evolution and the central role it plays in linking together Law and New Technologies. This project is devoted to building the foundation of a study which ought to be both a historical and philosophical account of the role of deontic logic within Philosophy and Law, and an analysis of its future potential within Law and New Technologies. The goal that this project aims at reaching is therefore the foundation of larger and broader study.
