Elastomeric compounds play a fundamental role in many relevant application for the human life. Among them, the most important one is in tyres for autovehicles. This application implies dynamic-mechanical properties that can be achieved only through the intimate compatibilization of the compound ingredients.
A critical aspect for tyres is the end-of-life. In particular, the objective of re-using crosslinked elastomeric materials, as ingredients for new compounds, has not been achieved, yet.
The research activity has the following objectives: 1. Identify methods for functionalizing elastomeric compounds, in particular crosslinked and arising from end-of-life tyres, 2. Prepare new elastomeric composite materials, containing the functionalized compounds (see Point 1), 3. Characterize the elastomeric composite materials (see Pont 2), with the aim of verifying the compatibilzation of the functionalized compounds.
