Research, inventoring, cataloguing and recomposition of Medieval Hebrew manuscripts reused as bookbinding in Italy.

The project’s aim is to complete the inventory of parchment Medieval Hebrew manuscripts reused as bookbinding in archives of Emilia-Romagna. Then, identification of text and a physical description of codicological and paleographical characteristic. That because of the vastness of marketing channels, followed by the seller of parchment manuscript to be reused. The researcher will also perform a survey of entire manuscripts of the same work held in libraries all over the world. A further step will be to establish the rarity of a text, possibly lost or unknown, and the antiquity of the manuscript fragments attested by the bindings. In the case or important works, the researcher will perform as well the collation and assessment of textual variants present in the fragments found, with respect to the text of the manuscripts already known. The last step of the project will be to implement the manuscripts found putting them online in the web, with an image and their descriptions.
