Models for reduction of energetic and environmental impact of fresh water production from marine environment and governance modeling of the alternative technologies integration with the coastal territory in harmony with the landscape constraints.

The research project aims at the analysis of performances of the modern desalination plants and at the study of the possibility of supply them with renewable energy sources. The Study final goal is that of pointing out the most advantageous technologies for applications of interest at regional level such as the fresh water supply of coastal regions suffering from seasonal or yearlong penury of fresh water. This comparative study will consider three basic issues, technical, economical and of environmental sustainability, to produce guidelines useful in the decisional process. The candidate, after a study of the state of the art in the sector, will give his/her contribution to the research activities of the Unit performing simulations and calculations to integrate these tree aspects with commercial codes (ASPEN) or developed custom codes.
