Wearable and textile antennas are nowadays one of the most interesting research areas in the antenna field, and a wide number of solutions can be found in the literature; in fact, the advantages of an antenna integrated in clothes are well known: in addition to low weight and cost, they allow hand-free operation in many activities.
For some applications high powers and licensed frequencies are necessary, and the use of lower frequencies can be preferred, e.g. in the range of lower UHF (typically, below 1 GHz): these, on the other hand, require larger antennas, so that a number of compromises have to be made, and the need of antenna miniaturization is anyway important.
Design, simulations, experimental realization of prototypes and measurements have to be made with different curvatures of the antenna surfaces, and also with various sizes of the ground plane, defining the limits where the antenna performance are still acceptable.
