Functional oxide materials and their interfaces possess a unique and enormous range of tunable properties and are set to revolutionise the field of electronic devices. The properties of these materials can be tuned dramatically by introducing nitrogen, due to its lower electronegativity, higher electronic polarisability and higher formal charge relative to oxygen.
