The Role of Ontologies in Ensuring the Quality of Search and Information on the Internet

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Ontologies, understood as formal descriptions of concepts making up a given domain, can be applied to the Web in fruitful ways by making data more structured and securing the language support needed for automatic software agents to correctly interpret complex search queries by the user. This brings a twofold advantage, for it makes our searching simpler (closer to natural-language querying) and the search engine's results more accurate. The project, in particular, will consist in designing "meta-documents" carrying a summary description of (a) the contents found in other documents and (b) the ways such contents relate to one another. To this end we start with a set of documents having different contents and different formats, a corpus that will then be analyzed so as to map those contents onto a concept map.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
