The Translation of Foreign Literature in the USSR

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The purpose of this research is to study the peculiarities of translation in the Soviet Russia. On the one hand, the perspective of the analysis will consider the politicized and institutionalized cultural system in which the translator works in the USSR; on the other hand, it will take into account the theoretical and critical thought in the field of translation that develops in the country and that is at the basis of the translator's work. The analysis of Soviet translations of works by L.-F. Celine, A. Malraux, J.-P. Sartre and J. Giono aims to identify the regular patterns, the forms and the norms of translation through which a foreign text fits into the peculiarities of the Socialist realism.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
