Component phase segregation in the blend forming the active layer of BHJ solar cells is still an open question and it is crucial to achieve good electrical conversion efficiencies of solar radiation. Organic and hybrid BHJ solar cells will be studied. Rod-coil block copolymers constituted by a low-band gap conjugated rigid segment and a flexible segment able to coordinate semiconducting NCs and shell NCs will be prepared and used as the donor material in the cell. The rod segment is based on thiophene or carbazole residues and benzo or dithienylbenzothiadizole. The molecular weight of the two segments must be carefully control in order to address the proper morphology with domain of 10-20 nm. Nanocrystals, nanorods, tetrapod of CdSe, CdTe, provided by other partner of the project. will be considered. This study is inserted in two projects funded by Italian ministry of university and of scientific research and Lombardia region
