A new immune-based antitumoral strategy to target hERG1 potassium channel through nano-antibodies

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is a malignant neoplasm, which represent the second leading cause of death after heart disease. New approaches in the treatment of this disease are needed. The purposes of this project are: 1) the development of nano-antibodies (scFv), through the engineering of a pre-existing monoclonal antibody directed against the hERG1 channel, which is over-expressed in pancreatic tumors; 2) the development of orthotopic and transgenic mouse models to be used in task 3) and 4); 3) the evaluation of the effects of such nano-antibodies in vitro and in vivo; 4) the evaluation of the effects of the hyperthermic treatment in vitro and in vivo using magnetic nanoparticles conjugated with anti-hERG1 nano-antibodies.

Biological Science Degree; experience in production of engineered monoclonal antibodies; experience in the development of ortothopic mouse models and management of genetically modified murine models.
