Literature survey on defects in light alloys castings and elaboration of pre-normative documents

The goal of the activity is the elaboration of a detailed database, starting from literature data, concerning the various kinds of defects detectable in Aluminium alloys castings. For all defects, morphology and size issues, as well as metallurgical causes and effects on mechanical and technological behaviour of castings, have to be classified. From such database, a pre-normative document has to be elaborated, in view of a new EU standard on defects classification in Aluminium alloys castings and on the engineering approaches to be adopted in order to correctly predict the mechanical behaviour of castings.
