Dissecting the pathogenetic mechanisms of Brody disease

Aim of the study will be:

a) to analyze the expression of SERCA1 and the solubility proprieties of the mutated and wild type protein;

b) to address the question whether SERCA1 physiologically exists in its native membrane environment homooligomeric units and if these oligomeric structures are impaired;

c) to look for novel physiological interacting partner/s of SERCA1 in order to identify other possible candidate gene/s responsible for BS.
