The role of cell competition in carcinogenesis: cell-cell interactions in different models of oncogenic cooperation.

Please note that the job is no longer active!

“Cell competition” is a biological phenomenon which senses in epithelial tissues the presence of cells with different proliferative rates and eliminates cells showing a lower fitness. There are several indications in literature that this mechanism may be involved in pathological conditions such as tumourous growth, and the aim of this research programme is to deepen our knowledge on the role of cell ompetition in epithelial tumourigenesis using Drosophila as an experimental model. Given the availability of genetic instruments such as clonal analysis, through which it is feasible to induce clones of genetically different cells in the same organ, this animal represents an ideal model in which to analyse changes in cell biochemistry following to the onset of competitive interactions. Beside the animal model, we will utilise human cell cultures which reproduce the epithelial structure in vitro.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
