Action organization and monitoring: from vision to motor control

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Damages to the posterior parietal cortex in either monkeys or humans cause eye-hand coordination problems in reaching and grasping movements, such as Optic ataxia.
The aim of this research project is to identify the role of two cortical areas (V6A and PEc) located in the superior parietal lobule of primates in hand actions focused to reach and grasp objects under visual and somatic control. A robotic arm will be used to present during the experiment to the animal visual tagets to fix and to reach with the hands. The research will include two levels:
1) Set-up of the robotic arm, programming and interfacing with the laboratory equipment.
2) Recordings of bioelectric activity of single neurons located in areas V6A and PEc in monkey.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
