Optimization of the procedures for monitoring hemostasis peri-and intra-operative management of antithrombotic, anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy in surgical patients at high vascular risk

The innovation in the surgical field through the use of new materials, procedures, control systems intra-operators requires an optimal control of hemostasis.
In order to reduce cardiovascular events in patients at high vascular risk, a more aggressive and personalized therapy , which includes the use of anticoagulant drugs and antiplatelet agents is needed.
Patients on dual antiplatelet therapy undergoing to cardiac and non cardiac surgery are at risk of thromboembolic and bleeding events in the peri-operative period. Therefore, it has become essential to assess platelet function and monitor the degree of response to the antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy both in the pre-or post-operatively.
Purpose of the project: to develop and validate a diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm in order to manage appropriately the anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy and to adequately prepare any specific treatments with blood components to handle in a positive manner the patient outcome.
