This study aims to produce aluminium matrix composite coatings containing alumina microparticles for anticorrosion purposes. The coatings will be obtained via codeposition of alumina microparticles in room temperature electroplated aluminium matrix. By means of SEM on the cross-section, the morphology and microstructures of the composite coatings will be evaluated as function of the amount of embedded alumina and the electrodeposition parameters (solution stirring, direct and pulse current, current waveform and frequencies).
Via anodisation in sulphuric acid double-faced coatings will be produced and their anticorrosion properties evaluated by means of electrochemical (open potential curves, potentiodynamic polarization curves) and salt spray free corrosion tests.
