Characterization of novel hemoproteins and biomolecules in solution and interacting with metallic nanoparticles to highlight the presence of conformational changes upon interaction.
i) UV-Vis, RR will be applied to study the interaction of hemoproteins and selected mutants in order to obtain information on the mechanisms governing the interaction.
ii) RR and SERS will be applied to investigate the effect of conjugation using hemoproteins from different sources.
iii) SERS spectroscopy will be applied to study the different core@shell Au@SiO2 (nanostructures consisting of a metallic core with a SiO2 shell)– biomolecule systems. SERS enhancements of these systems will be quantified as a function of nanoshell core and shell dimensions indifferent experimental conditons. The aim being to obtain SERS spectra of the analyte, whose Raman signal is enhanced by the Au nanoparticles without the chemical effect
