Coinage and Identity: Tychai Poleos and Personifications of Cities in the Roman Provincial Coinage

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Considering the Roman provincial coinage, the research project presented here aims at specify the polysemic valence implied by deities and personifications too often generally defined as Tychai, through the identification and analysis of the iconographic features related to female divine figures of particular importance, in local context, as civic tutelary deities. In this regard, the first step in the research schedule will provide for the realization of a computerized census of the numismatic evidence connected with the representations of the Tychai poleos, personifications of cities and polyadic deities in the Roman provincial coinage, subsequently aimed at the elaboration of several entries, such as Tyche poleos, corona muralis, etc., useful to the implementation of the Lexicon Iconographicum Numismaticae project.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
