The present project is aimed on the development of novel prototypes of drugs with high specificity towards molecular targets overexpressed and/or present in prostate cancer cells. Multisciplinary experience in drug design and synthesis, with an emphasis on targeting and enzyme inhibition strategies, as well as background on molecular modeling, is required. As far as the computer-aided drug design is concerned, work experience should be focused on virtual screening methods to identify original hit compounds (by using “ligand-based drug design” and “structure-based drug design” approaches), on molecular recognition by docking techniques, and on pharmacological optimization of bioactive molecules.
