Fellowship posted by Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (24/11/2012 02.25)

European Research Council funded fellowship Synthesis and electronic properties of functional Silicon nanocrystals

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The research project will be focused on the synthesis and electrochemical characterization of new organic-inorganic hybrid materials consisting of silicon nanocrystals covalently functionalized with organic molecules of increasing complexity. The electrochemical properties will give us information on the band gap energy of the SiNCs as a function of their dimensions, as well as on the electronic interactions with the functional molecules at the periphery.
The experimental work will include the synthesis and characterization of organic molecules as well as the coupling to inorganic nanocrystals. The candidate will carry out a bibliographic search to keep updated with literature and to know recent developments in the field of quantum dots.
The candidate should have a background on organic synthesis and standard spectroscopic characterization (NMR, UV, IR) and knowledge of electrochemical techniques (cyclic voltammetry with standard and ultramicroelectrodes).

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
