Forming of glass tubing: analysis and simulation

Aim of the project is to define the possibilities to simulate the forming process af glass tubing, in particular of borosilicate glass, by using commercial software. The activity will be based on a preliminary analysis of the scientific literature, the choice of the softwares able to better simulate the heating stage of the glass tube and its forming, the identification of the main parameters and their experimental measurement. The activity will be carried on in collaboration with Nuova Ompi (at Piombino Dese) and Stazione Sperimentale del Vetro (in Murano).
