Within the project Long Term Ecological Research MareChiara (LTER-MC), we recorde the taxonomic diversity of plankton to study the variations in the seasons and blooming phases, to identify recurring patterns over the years and to monitor changes in it caused by climatic variations.
This project will address two main issues:
1) Which organisms are present at the MC-LTER in different phases of a diatom bloom?
2) What are they doing in these different phases?
To answer these questions the following strategies will be adopted.
1) Sampling of two phases of a plankton bloom.
2) Sequencing of the diversity of planktonic samples and data analysis and mining.
The main task of the candidate will be the development of specific bioinformatics pipelines to analyze the data from the sequencing data.
Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
To participate in the competition, candidates must possess the following qualifications: Degree in biological or informatics sciences / or disciplines related to the biology and bioinformatics. These requirements must be fulfilled on the date of expiry of the deadline for submission of applications for admission to the selection. The exclusion from the selection, for lack of necessary qualifications, shall be introduced by decree notified of motivated.
Competition based on qualifications and interview. The assessment of the candidates will be conducted by a special jury, which will examine the qualifications and the performance of an interview aimed at ascertaining the candidate's professional expertise in scientific, as well as his attitude to carry out specific research subject of the application.
