The objective of the research is to evaluate the susceptibility of citrus rootstocks, CTV tolerant, to root and collar rot caused by Phytophthora citrophthora and p. nicotianae and to develop sustainable control strategies that involve the use of synthetic fungicides (xenobiotics) with low environmental impact. The research will be mainly addressed to: a) the molecular and biological characterization of populations of P. nicotianae and P. citrophthora; b) the evaluation of the susceptibility of citrus rootstocks to root rot and trunk gummosis caused by P. nicotianae and P. citrophthora by treatments with synthetic fungicides, already recorded or still in the experimental stage, against Phytophthora diseases, in the field or under controlled environmental conditions
