Impact of new elderly-tailored whole-diet dietary strategies on the intestinal microbiota of free-living elderly people

Please note that the job is no longer active!

In the perspective to improve the health status of older people, the possibility to modulate their gut microbiota by tailored dietary interventions has been considered. Within the FP7 EU project “NuAge” (KBBE-2010-2-2-02), healthy, free living elderly (65-79 y), will be recruited and the study of their intestinal microbiota will be carried out by integrating investigations of its phylogenectic structure with functional metagenomic and transcriptomic data. Molecular approaches of phylogenetic DNA-microarray, qPCR and 16S rDNA deep sequencing will be merged to provide a complete view of the microbiota structure. Microbiological data will be integrated and correlated with several host physiological parameters, i.e. inflammation and immune function, nutritional status and susceptibility to infection. This approach will allow to better describe the impact of diet on the aging process of the intestinal microbiota, allowing to implement dietary approaches supporting an healthy aging.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
