Finding an interested party for your problem: hypios, a real marketplace for ideas
On June 10 hypios.com, the first global on-line marketplace for solutions, was launched. hypios connects companies with specific problems (Seekers), to people who have the knowledge and expertise to find solutions (Solvers). The website works by Seekers submitting detailed problem descriptions and Solvers then having a chance to offer solutions if their expertise is suited to the given problem. A novel ideaThe idea for hypios started in 2008 after the creators read (red?) an article stating that a marketplace for ideas was not possible. Oussama Ammar and Jérémie Bertrand took this as a challenge and decide to create hypios. On the website, interested problem solvers can compete for significant monetary rewards and recognition in their peer networks. hypios does not limit what fields problems can come from and all exchanges between Seekers and Solvers are anonymous. The site connects users and acts as a guarantor, ensuring that authors of any solution used by a company are paid for the work they have accomplished. Once Solvers have a proven success rate, hypios will invite them to become evaluators. Evaluators help Seekers by reviewing submitted solutions and they receive a stipend from hypios for each evaluation they complete. hypios also offers Solvers a means to have their expertise recognised by outside companies by sharing job offers from companies looking for Solvers to join their team. A boon for businesshypios allows Seekers to look outside their company to find solutions to problems. In many cases, a solution for a problem already exists, but it just does not get to those who need it. In others, an external eye will develop something new and innovative which best addresses the problem at hand. hypios' extensive network of highly specialised Solvers covers a myriad of different fields and can provide out-of-the-box solutions to any problem a Seeker may have. Such resources are perfectly matched for small- and medium-sized enterprises across the globe, many of whom lack the necessary internal research resources. For larger companies, hypios offers a unique way to get perspective on a tough problem. Since the launch of the company, the hypios team regularly talks with investors, Seekers and Solvers to figure out how to make hypios into the most useful and effective tool possible for users on both ends. Because, at the end of the day "the challenge of solving problems on hypios is not only fun, it may increase your earnings and boost your reputation," says Jean Le Pavec, Vice President of hypios. |
