The services of the Commission are receiving an
increasing number of complaints about the
possible granting of unlawful and incompatible
state aid. Frequently, such complaints are
initially presented in rather general terms,
which makes it difficult to identify the
competition issues concerned and the seriousness
of the complaint, and leads to substantial delays
in the treatment of complaints.
This complaint form is intended to assist complainants by identifying the information necessary for the Commission to be able to follow up complaints effectively. This should facilitate the treatment of complaints both by the Commission and by the Member States.
Within the Commission, state aid complaints are treated on a decentralised basis by the relevant departments. Details of the different departments are given on the form. If you don't know, the complaint may be submitted to the Secretary General of the Commission who will determine which department should deal with the complaint.
