Disabled children in Poland are helped by trained assistants to get on at school
In Poland, the successful ESF project ‘Assistant of the disabled child’ is helping children with disabilities to improve their performance, get on with their peers more easily, and feel better in their school environments overall. Run by the ‘Active for Łajski’ association, the project trained 45 people in the skills needed to support and guide disabled children – and many participants have gone on to find jobs. The project is proving a success both for the trainees and the children, so the association plans to continue it, with a focus on unemployed participants. Project results will be presented at a school directors’ conference in October.
