Latvia prolongs a successful ESF project to help young people boost their qualifications
The success of the ‘Assistants’ Practices’ project in Latvia – with four-fifths of participants finding work – has led the State Employment Agency to extend it for a further year. Aimed at young job-seekers with higher-education qualifications, the project improves their employability through work experience and placements.
So far, some 311 have taken part in the project, 239 have completed it, 80% of whom have found jobs. With the extension to 2014, a further 100 young people will now get the chance to build sustainable skills and enter the workforce.
