ESF support is helping to train people in IT skills and employ them to boost the online presence of the Avilés municipality
In the Spanish municipality of Avilés, the Technical School for Social Technologies is starting a new phase of a training and employment project launched in November 2012. Already, 24 participants have been trained in skills such as website development and online publishing and marketing.
From now on, they will be deploying these new skills in different parts of the municipality with work contracts to develop web pages for a variety of purposes. The tasks will include digitising council administration, setting up web pages for a local ‘volunteers award’ and publicising information on leisure activities for children and young people.
The longer-term aim is to equip the participants with the relevant IT skills that are currently in demand in both the private and public sectors.
