New ways of attracting men to 'female' professions

A Danish region is using ESF funding to investigate how to attract more men into vocational education and less male-oriented professions

The Sjælland (Zealand) region in Denmark has launched the DKK 22 million (EUR 3 million) IMODUS project which aims to attract young men into vocational education as well as encouraging them to consider less-traditional areas of study – such as the teaching and health professions. In all, a total of eight education institutions are taking part, led by the University of Zealand, and they will develop and test new ways of organising education to attract and recruit male students as well as disseminating the project’s findings and results.
