A new ESF project aims to attract and retain brain power to meet demand in southern Denmark
A new project called 'The Best Brains for Southern Denmark ' aims to attract 500 academics to the region over the next three years. Run by local development organisations, the project offers solutions to the large corporations in the region that find it difficult to get highly educated employees. “The problem is even more urgent as a large number of senior employees will leave the job market over the next 5-7 years, so we simply have to react now”, says Michael Willemar Svanøe, chairman of the project group. Of the young people who leave to study in Aarhus and Copenhagen only a limited number return, and it is estimated that southern Denmark will need 300-400 engineers in the near future.
